LILLIAN M. CAREY, 74, NATIVE OF KAMIAH

      Lewiston homemaker Lillian M. Carey died of cancer Thursday at her home. She was 74.
      An Idaho native, she was born April 10, 1917, at Woodland, near Kamiah, to Harley W. and Mabel F. Pool Lansing.
      The family moved to Lewiston in 1922 and from 1925 to 1934, they lived at several locations in western Washington and north central Idaho.
      She and Frank L. Carey were married Feb. 27, 1934, at Kelso, Wash. They lived at Bremerton, Wash., where he worked in the shipyards.
      They moved to Cavendish, Idaho, in 1947, where they owned and operated a farm. She also worked for six years as an attendant at Idaho State Hospital North at Orofino.
      Later, she was employed for three years by the Orofino School District as a cook at the Orofino Elementary School.
      The couple retired in 1979. He died May 26, 1985. She moved to Lewiston in 1989.
      She enjoyed fishing and was a former member of the Cavendish Grange and the Cavendish Community Club.
      Survivors include a brother, Willis Lansing and a sister, Thesta Poloson, both of Lewiston.
      A sister and a brother died previously.
      Visitation is scheduled from 1 to 7 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Vassar-Rawls Funeral Home at Lewiston.
      A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Normal Hill Cemetery at Lewiston with the Rev. Bob Roberts of the Lewiston First United Methodist Church officiating.
      The family suggests memorials be sent to the St. Joseph Family Hospice, P.O. Box 816, Lewiston, Idaho 83501 or to the American Cancer Society, in care of Georgina LaRocque, 1027 Ninth Ave., Lewiston.
